Admissions

Starting rehab at Keystone Lodge

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming. We make the admissions process as simple, private and supportive as possible.

You just need somewhere to begin

From your first conversation with our team through to arriving at Keystone, we’ll guide you through each stage so you know what to expect and have the opportunity to ask questions along the way.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need somewhere to begin.

Family members and loved ones are welcome to make the first call too. If you’re reaching out on someone’s behalf, our family support page explains what happens next.

Your admission journey

Five steps from first call to arrival

Every admission follows the same simple path, at a pace that suits you.

  1. 01

    Start with a confidential conversation

It starts with a conversation. Speak privately with our team about what's happening, what support you're looking for and whether Keystone may be the right fit. Family members and loved ones are welcome to contact us too.

  2. 02

    Pre-admission assessment

Before admission, we take time to understand you: your circumstances, alcohol or drug use, medications and individual needs. This helps us prepare for your arrival and ensure the support at Keystone is appropriate for you.

  3. 03

    Detox planning, if required

For some guests, the first step is detox. We'll discuss your individual needs and whether supported social detox at Keystone may be appropriate. Where required, a doctor can attend Keystone to complete an initial assessment and establish a detox plan.

  4. 04

    Preparing for your stay

Once your admission is confirmed, we'll make sure you know what to expect. Our team will guide you through what to bring, medications, arrival arrangements and anything else you need to feel prepared and supported before your stay begins.

  5. 05

    Arriving at Keystone

You don't need to arrive with all the answers. We'll welcome you, help you settle into your private room and take time to understand what you need as you begin your stay. From here, your recovery begins, supported by structure, connection and purpose.

Admissions questions

What people want to know before they get in touch.

Ask us a question
How do I start the admission process?

The first step is a confidential conversation with our team. We’ll listen to what is happening, answer your questions and discuss whether residential rehab at Keystone Lodge may be the right fit for you. If you decide to proceed, we’ll guide you through the pre-admission process and help prepare you for your arrival.

How do I get help?

Contact Keystone Lodge for a confidential conversation about the next step. Call us on 0800 539 888, call or text James, our Intake & Engagement Manager, on 021 596 159, or send us a message through our contact page. Every conversation is confidential and completely obligation-free.

How do I know what I need?

Speaking with a professional can help clarify the next step. A confidential conversation with our team will help you understand whether detox support, residential rehab or both may be appropriate for your circumstances. Our pre-admission assessment looks at your situation, substance use, medications and needs so the right plan is in place before you arrive.

Can I contact Keystone on their behalf?

Absolutely. Sometimes the first person to reach out for help is the person who loves them. You’re welcome to call us and simply tell us what has been happening. We’ll listen without judgement, answer your questions and help you understand what the next step might look like. There is no pressure and no obligation; sometimes having someone to talk to is the first step.

Can I come to Keystone Lodge from Australia or overseas?

Yes. Keystone Lodge welcomes guests from across New Zealand, Australia and worldwide. We provide immediate admission and airport pick-up, 24-hour support, and a private residential programme that combines evidence-based therapy, recovery mentoring, holistic wellbeing and 12-month aftercare. Read more for Australian guests and international guests, or contact our team to talk through travel and admission.
